Tercera Generacion is a young band from Southern California that plays
traditional Tejano music. That's correct, Tejano music instead of Banda music which is very popular in California. I guess you could say that they are into Tejano music because it is in their roots.

The name Tercera Generacion is in honor of the family tradition. These
young men are the third generation of musicians in the Garza family. Their grandfather, Victor Garza, originally from Texas was instrumental in organizing the first Tejano band in the Coachella Valley in the late 1950's. When his two sons, Victor Jr. and Lupe were born, they took a liking to this type of music. Lupe started playing the accordion and Victor, Jr. the drums. By the time Lupe was nine years old, he and Victor, Jr., along with a couple of cousins and friends had started their own band, Los Alegres de Lupe Garza. They performed for approximately thirty years, retiring in October, 1994.

Soon after Lupe started playing with his young sons for fun. Their talent
apparently was noticed as they were invited to perform at a New Year's Eve Dance in La Quinta, California. Immediately the band came up with the name Tercera Generacion. This was to be their first performance and they only had seven songs in their repertoire. Those seven songs helped them reach heights they never dreamed possible. With only six months experience, the Texas Talent Musicians Association, producers of the annual Tejano Music Awards in San Antonio, Texas asked Tercera Generacion to represent the State of
California at the Annual Tejano Music Awards FanFair. They were awarded a plaque for their participation. On November 3, 1997 they opened up for Emilio Navaira and his Rio band at the Moonlight Amphitheater in Vista, California.

This young band, which has been in existence since December 31, 1994, hails from Indio, California. The director of the group and father of the boys is Lupe Garza, Sr. (keyboards, accordion), 12 year old Adrian Garza (accordion, keyboards, vocalist), 15 year old Alejandro Garza (drums), and 18 year old Lupe Garza, Jr. (bass, vocalist).

Tercera Generacion performs cumbias, polkas, huapangos, chotis and most
popular of all, Tejano music. Their performances also include some country, pop, and oldies, making them a very versatile and exciting young group.

Hacienda is announcing their new release, the CD, "Donde Andaras". Tercera Generacion is an exciting young new group that Tejano fans will enjoy.
